PowerLog® Basics
Course Description
This two-day course is intended for novice users of PowerLog. This is a practical course and participants will work through examples, from data loading to a “Quick Look” evaluation, using PowerLog. Basic petrophysical concepts will be explained as required.
Following this course, the student will be able to load log data, view the data in Logplot, create tops and zones, edit log curves via depth shifting, prepare the data for interpretation through basic log functions and crossplots, interpret the data using Pickett plots and QuickLook calculations, create reports, and create a collage for presentation of data.
Specific topics covered are:
- Project creation
- Well creation
- Loading of log and core data
- Interactive depth shifting and log editing
- Creation of tops and zones
- Basic log calculations, single log and cross plot porosities, temperature gradient, Rw from SP, etc.
- Construction of cross plots and log plots
- “Quick Look” evaluation
- Net pay summary reports
