PowerLog® Advanced
Course Description
This two-day course is intended for PowerLog users who are already familiar with the basic functions available in the software, as covered in the PowerLog introductory course. This is a practical course and participants will work through examples using the PowerLog software.
Continuing on from skills learned in the basics course, the student will learn how to compute True Vertical Depth, edit logs curves using baseline shift and more depth shifting, apply environmental corrections, write a user programs, create and run a batch process, generate synthetic curves, work with multiwell histograms to normalize logs, calculate clay volumes, interactively pick parameters, perform basic MultiMineral analysis, and create a more complex collage.
Specific topics covered are:
- Use of curve alias
- Creation and use of tops and zones
- User created cross plot overlays
- Multi well cross plots and histograms
- Interactive normalization from cross plots and histograms
- Interactive parameter picking
- Multimin/Complex Lithology interpretation
- Synthetic curve generation
- User programming
- Batch processing
Prerequisites: Participants should also possess a sound knowledge of petrophysical concepts.
