Introduction to Simultaneous Inversion (JGW201)
Course Description
Using a combination of lectures and hands-on exercises, students will be introduced to the log analysis and log synthesis necessary to successfully complete an inversion processes utilizing pre-stack seismic data. The generation of reflectivity logs at angle (elastic impedance) for partial-stack wavelet estimation and Simultaneous Inversion (SI) will be explained. A synthetic data set is utilized to illustrate the limits of Elastic Impedance Inversion and the superiority of Simultaneous Inversion. Log processing (including shear logs and fluid substitution) and SI inversion will then be further illustrated on real data sets from the North Sea.
Prerequisites: Introduction to Acoustic Impedance Inversion (JGW 101)
Course Benefits: Become familiar with the concepts of Largo's rock physics approach, and acquire the ability to perform Simultaneous Inversion projects with basic settings and QC analysis. Through practice and experience, you will be able to understand and take full advantage of RockTrace™ functionality and capabilities.
